Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a 25-year freeze on the upcoming delimitation exercise for parliamentary constituencies.
In his letter, the opposition leader expressed deep concerns that redrawing electoral maps based strictly on current population figures would severely disadvantage southern states that successfully managed population growth.
Kharge urged the central government to build a broad national consensus before undertaking redistricting, ensuring federal balance and equitable political representation across all regions.
