JAKARTA — Thousands of fired-up demonstrators converged outside Indonesia’s parliament building on Tuesday, demanding sweeping institutional reforms and significantly harsher penalties for corrupt public officials.

Chanting anti-graft slogans and hoisting vibrant banners, protesters called on lawmakers to aggressively reinforce watchdog agencies and eliminate systemic bribery across state institutions.
