Tata Trusts said N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment as Tata Sons chairman is invalid because both Trust-nominated directors were required to approve it. Noel Tata opposed the extension while Venu Srinivasan backed it, leaving the 4-1 board vote legally ineffective, according to the Trusts.
