Western Australian police have formally charged a man with murder following an alleged prolonged domestic violence assault in the Perth suburb of St James.

Authorities were called to the residential address earlier this week, where emergency responders discovered the victim suffering from critical injuries sustained over multiple days. Despite intensive medical intervention, the victim tragically succumbed to their wounds.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to face Perth Magistrates Court, while homicide detectives urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
