Low-pressure area forms over Bay of Bengal, Odisha braces for more rain

A low-pressure area formed over the coastal region adjoining the Bay of Bengal on Saturday, leading to a fresh spell of rain across Odisha.  The system is likely to bring more rain to Odisha, with thunderstorms expected across several parts of the state. North Odisha is likely to receive heavy rainfall under its influence. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Bhubaneswar issued an orange alert for six districts. The alert warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas. Six Districts Under Orange Alert Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur have been placed under an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has also been issued for 24 other districts. Rainfall activity is likely to intensify further from Sunday across Odisha. Many parts of the state may receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next four days. Rain Likely To Intensify The weather system is expected to continue moving west-northwestwards over the coming 48 hours. Its movement through the north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal region is likely to influence weather conditions across the state. Authorities issued alerts and advised people in the affected areas to remain cautious as the weather system progresses.
