The remnant of Saudel brought showers to inland Guangdong yesterday morning. The band of clouds that covered the coastal areas thinned out during the day. Winds were weak over the region. Locally, it was mainly cloudy yesterday. There were sunny periods during the day. Winds will still be weak over the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, the broad band of clouds over central China will move southwards slightly. There will be a few showers over the coast of Guangdong early next week. At 11 p.m. last night, Tropical Storm Krovanh was centred about 270 kilometres north of Okinawa. It is forecast to move south at about 10 kilometres per hour lingering over the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands. Meanwhile, the tropical depression over the western North Pacific to the east of the Philippines was centred about 510 kilometres west-southwest of Iwo Jima. It is forecast to move north-northwest at about 26 kilometres per hour towards the seas south of Japan. Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Saturday, 5 Sep 2026): Mainly cloudy. The minimum temperature will be about 27 degrees in the morning. Sunny periods during the day with a maximum temperature of around 31 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Isolated showers later. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds. Outlook: Sunny intervals and a few showers on Sunday. Becoming fine in the following couple of days.
