Omar Abdullah Says Govt Lacks Power to Lift Book Bans as Row Deepens

His remarks came a day after the J&K Legislative Assembly was informed that the Union Territory’s Higher Education Department has withdrawn 4,249 books deemed “objectionable” from colleges and libraries across the Union territory. Of these, nearly 4,000 were removed from institutions in the Kashmir Valley and 253 from the Jammu division.
