Gauhati HC Orders Assam Govt To Pay Rs 2 Lakh Compensation

The Gauhati High Court directed the Assam government to pay two lakh rupees to Md Mujahidul Islam after his mother, Jahanara Begum, was wrongfully pushed to Bangladesh despite pending citizenship proceedings. Begum was declared a foreigner in 2019, but the court previously set aside that tribunal opinion. The bench also ordered a thorough investigation into the deportation incident.
