Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding across Madhya Pradesh, with Satna and Sidhi among the worst-affected districts. Rivers, streams and roads are overflowing, while several residential and commercial areas remain waterlogged. In Chitrakoot, a sudden surge of water created a powerful waterfall-like flow at the Dharkundi Ashram, flooding the main premises, prayer area and priest’s room. NDRF, SDRF and police teams were placed on alert. Fortunately, few devotees were present at the time, preventing a major tragedy. Satna has emerged as a major flood hotspot. A Bolero carrying passengers overturned while attempting to cross a swollen stream despite warnings. Local villagers quickly arrived with ropes and rescued everyone inside the vehicle, averting a major disaster. Meanwhile, the overflowing Mandakini River has caused extensive waterlogging across the city, with vehicles submerged and roads becoming difficult to navigate. In Sidhi, two days of continuous rain have flooded streets, homes and shops. Blocked drains have worsened the situation, while the Sukha and Hiran rivers are flowing strongly. Several feet of water has accumulated in Ward 19, forcing residents to remain awake at night out of fear that floodwater could enter their homes. Shortages of food and daily essentials are also beginning to emerge.
