FLOOD ALERT: Heavy rains wreak havoc across MP, UP and Bihar

Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana, disrupting villages, roads and public infrastructure. In Satna, Madhya Pradesh, swollen rivers and streams have cut off several villages. A passenger-filled Bolero overturned while attempting to cross a flooded stream, but local residents used ropes to rescue the occupants and recover the vehicle. In Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, rising Ganga waters have flooded three villages, with two girls reportedly drowning. Around 230 boats have been deployed as the only means of transportation. Residents are also facing shortages of clean water and food. In Jaunpur, the rising Gomti River has submerged a temple at Gopi Ghat. Flood conditions have also worsened in Lakhimpur Kheri, Chitrakoot and Pilibhit. The Sharda River is flowing above the danger mark in Lakhimpur Kheri, while around 36 villages in Pilibhit are affected after large quantities of water were released from barrages. In Bihar, the Ganga has submerged Ramrekha Ghat in Buxar, while the rising Punpun River near Patna has washed away roads, isolated villages and damaged hundreds of acres of paddy crops. Meanwhile, in Yamunanagar, Haryana, two Para Special Forces personnel remain missing after their training boat was swept away by a strong current at Hathnikund Barrage. Army, NDRF and SDRF teams continue the search operation.
