Delhi Police are questioning Swatantra Bhardwaj, who was detained from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the alleged assault on Sanjay, father of CJP activist Nishu Azad. Police had detained two youths in the case, while another alleged accused, Suraj from Nalanda, Bihar, remains absconding and is being searched for. Following Sanjay’s complaint, police added provisions of the SC/ST Act to the earlier FIR. Nishu Azad had also complained of receiving online threats, allegedly involving Bhardwaj. Based on the complaint, police registered a separate FIR invoking provisions related to criminal intimidation and the POCSO Act. Meanwhile, a Hindu organisation is reportedly planning a protest demanding Bhardwaj’s release. Demonstrators are expected to approach the Parliament Street Police Station and raise their demand. Bhardwaj remains in police custody as questioning continues, while authorities continue efforts to trace the absconding accused.
