Punjab politics has entered a fresh phase of confrontation after an Enforcement Directorate (ED) report submitted before the Punjab and Haryana High Court raised serious allegations of an alleged corruption network linked to government functioning. The 200-page report, highlighted in ABP News’ Operation Punjab, has triggered a political storm, with the Bhagwant Mann government facing intense opposition scrutiny. The report reportedly names Rajveer Ghuman, described as an Officer on Special Duty to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with Nitin Goyal, who is alleged to have acted as an intermediary between officials and Ghuman. The ED investigation reportedly details 21 transfer and posting-related instances and refers to seven cases connected with arms licences. The allegations also reportedly cover transfers and postings, tenders, change-of-land-use permissions for builders and appointments within the Chief Minister’s Office. According to the reported findings, electronic devices and documents recovered during the investigation allegedly provided information about financial transactions and an organised network. The ED had reportedly conducted searches at locations linked to Goyal in May, during which two bags allegedly containing cash were thrown from a balcony. The agency reportedly seized ₹21 lakh from the bags. The matter reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court after the ED allegedly sought responses from the Punjab government and police on multiple occasions. The court is scheduled to hear the case today, making the proceedings politically significant. Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal is set to meet Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria under Sukhbir Singh Badal’s leadership. The BJP has also demanded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s resignation and called for an independent investigation. The allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny and further investigation.
