Former Bosnian Serb military chief Ratko Mladić, notoriously dubbed the 'Butcher of Bosnia,' has died at the age of 84 while serving a life sentence.

Mladić was convicted in 2017 by a United Nations tribunal at The Hague for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed during the 1992–1995 Bosnian War.

His brutal military campaign included the devastating siege of Sarajevo and the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, where over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were systematically slaughtered in Europe's worst atrocity since World War II.
