Widespread dry spells are looming over Telangana as official meteorological data reveals that 290 of the state's 621 administrative mandals have recorded significant rainfall deficits this monsoon.

The cumulative deficit has pushed the state's overall seasonal precipitation 15 percent below the historical normal threshold, threatening the ongoing kharif crop sowing cycle.

Agronomists warn that without an immediate revival of monsoon currents, acute groundwater depletion and widespread agrarian distress could severely hit rural livelihoods across vulnerable districts.
