Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has strongly reaffirmed that granting full statehood is indispensable for the smooth and efficient administration of the Union Territory.

Addressing administrative limitations, Rangasamy stated that complete autonomy is critical to implementing public welfare schemes and driving regional development without unnecessary friction. Elected leaders, he noted, need decisive executive authority.

The renewed pitch highlights the territory's long-standing push to eliminate dual-control hurdles, prompting fresh calls for the Centre to expedite the grant of statehood.
